Why Collage?
Why Collage?
Collage is a medium that offers reflective energy, a simple creative experience that brings forth your story, through texture, color, images, and word.
The world of paper is deep and wide; from rice papers, mulberry papers, hand-maid artisanal papers, to colorful images from magazines and print sources, the variety and choices are endless.
Paper is the ultimate space through which our stories are expressed. Images that are chosen often want to interact with you, stepping forward, they are ready to be explored. Utilizing depth and discovery, meaning will move through the visual narrative that becomes a foundation working with our personal stories as a transformative process.
It is so simple yet profound, using richly colored papers, finding images from magazine pages, isolating energies by tearing and cutting, where the experience of blending and layering is rich and unexpected reflections will emerge.
When we allow our creativity to flow from our heart, into our hand, the magic and mystery is birthed on the “page”. Collage and mixed media always offer a rich source of symbolism and metaphor that leads to depth, meaning and insight.
Why Visual Narrative?
Images, color, texture, and words interwoven by your hands, create a living reflection of who you are now…through the creative expression you are tapping into the unconscious deep knowing and wisdom that resides within you.
In the classes and individual depth work I offer; we are seeking story that is intended to be the source of determining what resonates and matters most. Images that come forth and interact with you, will indicate what is ready to be explored.
This visual imagery is the foundation of working with personal stories and living energies, enhanced by artmaking and mark-making, become a catalyst for personal growth. The energy derived through hands on creating and extended creative experimentation, leads to enhancing one’s inner knowing and recognizing the benefits of developing a body of work. The blended images when combined, invite a harvest of experiential vignettes, weaving energies from the past, present, and future into patterns and forms that provide expression, healing, and wholeness.
